My Inner Geek is Failing

I cannot seem to convert Jumpcut videos so they can be uploaded to YouTube

First the backround:
Assignment: Create a 30 second movie on a copyright law
Tools: only images/video captured from a cell phone AND a web editing tool (Animoto or Jumpcut)
Students: University level pre-service educators
Intended use: commercials on our Univ site reminding students of copyright law
Storage: YouTube channel for University

So that seems okay~ right?

Now the problem:
Problem: Jumpcut is FANTASTIC for cell phone images/video BUT proprietary. I cannot find a way to convert Jumpcut movies so they can be uploaded to YouTube. The Yahoo help says two things: 1. not possible at this time 2. use Keepvid with URL (didn't work)

I have used the Firefox Download Helper and now have .avi which do not upload to YouTube.
Somewhere in the sourcecoding their is a way to update the ffmpeg but I "know not of these things"

A solution I seek:
  1. convert a Jumpcut for YouTube
  2. convert a Download Helper .avi for YouTube
  3. update the ffmpeg on a Mac to customize the video output in Download Helper
I have included a Jumpcut sample I made as well as a Jing shot of the ffmpeg preferences window.

Wow~ it feel like the Sunday New York Times crossword to me!
